God At Work

We often think of evangelism, mission, ministry and service as responsibilities of the church.  If we are honest, we sometimes approach these tasks with anxiety or resentment.  Anxiety because we are overwhelmed with the scale of the work that must be done.  Resentment because we are frustrated that others are not doing their share and, dare we admit it, the feeling that God has left the work up to us and he will evaluate us in the end.

Perhaps there is a more spiritual and biblical way of understanding the mission of the church.  What if the mission of the church is actually the mission of God.  Consider the following statement: “If God is at work in the world, then the church must join Him in that work.”
